Background information of the great school year Parkrose School District had last year. The High School experienced growth in report cards, met benchmarks in reading and writing and various sports programs succeeded at the national level. The elementary schools are now all using the same curriculum, as they all feed into one middle and high school. Various school programs were discussed. As well as the school is doing on many levels, much still needs to be done for students of color or of non English backgrounds. Last year Parkrose had to cut 10 school days, elementary PE and lost 33 staff. Therefore, after surveying Parkrose School District residents, the school district will be asking voters to pass a bond measure in May. The bond will cover repairs to Prescott and Sacramento elementary schools and to replace the middle school.. The bond will not affect the current tax rate due to a past Parkrose School District bond expiring. The tax rate is $1.25 per $1,000 assessed on residential property. Parkrose School District is located within Portland, but is not part of the Portland Public School system. Discussion from Parkrose Heights Neighbors There was much discussion from neighbors of the house located on 102nd Avenue. Neighbors continue to voice concern over the perceived loss of old Sequoia trees and express concern regarding the number of people visiting the house each Sunday and whether the home is equipped with proper measures in case of fire. Messages to the fire chief Jones have not been responded to as well as messages to Randy Leonard. It was suggested that the neighbors contact Amanda Fritz and keep a log of their conversations with city officials.
The meeting adjourned at 8:35pm.
