PHAN Board Minutes

09/20/11 

 

Call to Order: 7:08 pm by Jim, Chair of tonight’s meeting

 

Present:  Becky / Jim / John / Pete / Denise Absent:  Allison (Temporary leave-of-absence)

 

Guests:

Kathy Wai – EPNO Neighborhood Program Assistant

Tom Badrick – Parkrose Heights neighbor

 

The minutes for August will be reviewed at the October meeting.

 

Treasurer’s Report – John

Balance on hand as of 9/1/11: $1882.37 assigned to PHAN; $1017.14 in the Coffee Cart account

 

Old Business

 

Fall Elections

Positions up for election/reelection are Vice President, Secretary, and Members-at-Large Denise and Peter. Becky would prefer not to accept the Secretary position for another term.

 

A motion passed to elect Tom Badrick to fill a Member-at-Large position.

 

September Board Retreat – Kathy

Kathy will facilitate the September Board Retreat on September 28,2011 from 3p-6p. The meeting will be held at Parkrose Heights United Methodist Church. Goals for the meeting will be:

  • Orient the Board to strategic process and goals
  • Provide space for members to give input on mission, vision, and values
  • Review current activities and begin discussion of possible growth areas
  • Evaluate Board strengths, weaknesses, opportunities, and threats
  • Explore the EPNO/PHAN relationship and how PHAN fits into EPNO

 

PHAN’s Movie in the Park – Denise

The event took place as scheduled and was attended by approximately 100 ~ 150 people.

 

September General Meeting Speakers – Jim

Al Sigala, Northwest VP of Big Brother/Big Sister will be the guest speaker. A post-card mailing and an email announcement will be sent out to let neighbors know about the meeting. It will also be posted on PHAN’s website.

 

New Business

 

2012 National Night Out (NNO)

The Board will apply for a 2012 Small Grant to fund NNO.

 

Committee/Board Reports

 

Coffee Committee – Volunteers are needed for 9/24 and 10/8. The generator payment is $70/month.

 

Land Use & House on 102nd – A meeting is coming up with City Commissioner Amanda Fritz about the need for sidewalks. No news on the 102nd St property.

 

Chairs Meeting – No specific delegate is available to attend at this time.
